Pulse came about when a group of experienced trainers and instructors got together and said, “How do we get our class participants to get better results?” They realized that while their clients were giving a lot of effort, they might not be giving the optimal amount of effort. By ensuring clients stay in the appropriate heart rate range for various workouts, clients could get more out of their exercise in far less time. That became the basis for Pulse – making classes work for the participant to get the results they want by focusing on accountability and heart rate monitoring.
For many years, Allen worked out daily – running, lifting weights and taking classes across various gyms. He would work up a sweat, but wasn’t seeing any results with respect to weight loss or muscle tone.
He was willing to dedicate the time to his workouts, but nothing was happening – the result was less frequent gym visits and no positive change.
After meeting the Pulse instructors, Allen agreed to let one of them watch his workouts for a week. As it turns out, he wasn’t getting his heart rate into the right place and was too inconsistent on muscle group focus, which meant he wasn’t getting the most out of those workouts. Leveraging our knowledgeable and supportive instructors, Allen was put on a new path.
We gradually altered both his exercise and eating habits. After only 8 months, he had surpassed his weight loss goals (he lost 45 pounds versus his goal of 30 pounds!), completed two marathons and felt more confident than ever before. Allen is just one success story for the Pulse team, but isn’t an uncommon one.
